Via dei Condotti was one of the streets of ancient Rome that enabled people who crossed the River Tiber to reach the Pincio Hill, today it is a busy and beautiful street in which the most fashionable and luxurious shops such as Prada, Armani, Hermès, Cartier, Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Valentino are based, it is the Rome equivalent of Paris’ Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honore or London’s Bond Street and has been the centre of Italian fashion since Bulgari opened here in 1905. It is a very busy street with thousands of tourists here for the shopping, or just window shopping. It begins at the foot of the Spanish Steps and runs to the Via del Corso, it is named after the channels which brought the water to the Baths of Agrippa. In 1760 the Antico Cafe Greco was established here, this is the most famous cafe in Rome and among its many famous patrons can list Byron, Liszt, Keats and Marconi.
