Waterford – Christmas Markets in Ireland

Waterford Christmas Market 2016

Nollaig Shona Dhuit

Dates : November 25th to December 23rd 2016

Winterval Christmas Market

The streets of Waterford will be transformed with the sights, sounds and aromas of a traditional Christmas market.
You’ll find food stalls serving treats including hot chocolate and crepes, so you can keep up your energy levels as you wander through craft and gift stalls in search of that perfect Christmas gift.

Why not take the time to visit the popular Waterford Local Market, the market traditionally trades in John Roberts Square and will be located on George’s Street for the duration of Winterval, they look forward to meeting their existing customers and welcoming new customers to their market during Winterval.

John Roberts Square – The Heart of Winterval

John Roberts Square is named after the 18th century architect, whose work made a significant impact on the city.

So it seems quite fitting that the heart of  Winterval is located in this leafy open pedestrianised area, to accommodate the Rotary Memorial Ribbon Tree, the choirs, the carousel, the nativity Crib and Santa’s Giant Post box – we’ve managed to squeeze it all into the heart of the city.

Activities include :

The Christmas Carousel – Santa’s Post Box – Carol Singing – Crib at the Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity

Winterval Express Train

Hop on board the magical “Winterval Express”, a road train that takes you on an enthralling half hour journey through the historic streets of Waterford.  Chug past the Winterval attractions; the Giant Postbox and Carousel, the Giant Christmas Tree, The Bishop’s Palace, Theatre Royal, Santa’s Grotto, Reginald’s Tower, Winterval Christmas Market, the Animal Farm, Viking Yule and the Polish Christmas Village.

Winterval on Ice – The large Ice Rink provides fun for all the family

Winterval Illuminates – the spectacular 3D light and sound show.

Santa’s Grotto – Santa loves Winterval and this year he’s going to be in the atmospheric 13th century Medieval Museum! Meet the charming Mrs Claus with her mischievous elves and enter the magical winter garden. This visit to Santa is simply unmissable!
