This is a truly unique and romantic setting in the heart of the Bavarian Alps, surrounded by the clear waters of  the  Chiemsee.The market is set on the island of Frauenchiemsee which looks across to the Herrenchiemsee on which  sits  the ‘Castle Herrenchiemsee’ built by King Ludwig II.The Frauenchiemsee Island is home to a functioning  Cloister  and a community of artists, crafts-people and fishermen, and is a popular place to visit all through the  year.  At Christmas time the Island is brought to life with a myriad of twinkling lights and festive decorations.There  are over 60 stalls selling traditional German goods along with cakes and mulled wine, to keep out the cold.Christmas carols and music fills the air making time spent here a truly unforgettable experience.

You can sample the marzipan figures, chocolate covered fruits or one of the many festive delicacies on offer from around the world. There are all kinds of Christmas gifts and decorations, especially traditional things such as tree decorations, wood carvings, crib figures, traditional toys, candles, hand-knitted jumpers, lambskin slippers and glassware, you will be able to find that special little something that will be a unique gift for someone to treasure. Children will be excited to meet with Santa Claus and maybe, just maybe!! there will be a little present for them too!
